The Ascenxion Scout competition has wrapped up and a few area bands have had their tickets punched to play the Ichthus Festival, which in now just two weekends away, June 14-16.
~ Frankfort's RVN Band was the big winner, and will play the Ichthus Main Stage at 3 p.m. June 16. The photo, left, is of vocalist Cecily McCulloch and vocalist and guitar player Pastor Philip Derber (courtesy of the RVN Band).
~ Coming at you all the way across four time zones from sunny CA is Isa Band at No. 2. The singer-songwriter mounted a strong campaign to move from deep in the pack to second place, and we can't wait to find out what attracted her to Wilmore. Isa (photo, right) will play the Edge Stage at 5 p.m. June 15. Attention guitar players: If you like Isa's music, she has lyrics and chord charts on her website.
~ At No. 3, Under the Son hails from the immediate north -- Lancaster, Ohio, to be specific. Their myspace page lists their style as rock/Hawaiian/death metal, and there are other fun/goofy bits there. They play right before Isa, on the Edge stage at 4:20 June 15.
~ And finally, at No. 4 and playing the Edge Stage at 3:40 p.m. June 16, Eyesuponus. Looks like eponymous, I know, but it's not. Anyway, they hail from Versailles and Georgetown. (The photo, left, is courtesy of Eyesuponus. The band is, L-R, Jonathan Hensley, Eric Drane, Chris Simpson and Christopher Cool.)
Lookout for more on these guys during the festival, and we are going to ramp up our Ichthus coverage here at the blog, starting Tuesday.
