Borat Sagdiyev had a rough trip across the United States making a movie. But said movie, Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, is having no trouble conquering the nation. The Sacha Baron Cohen satire topped the weekend box office for the second consecutive week, improving from $26.5 million opening weekend to $29 million this weekend.
That was helped in large part by an expansion from 837 screens last weekend to 2,566 this weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.
The Top Three, in fact, were identical to last weekend, rounded out by The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause at No. 2 and Flushed Away at No. 3. The Will Ferrell Comedy Stranger than Fiction (photo, right, courtesy of Sony Pictures) was the top new film with $14.1 million, only good enough for No. 4. For a specialty film, the Brad Pitt -Cate Blanchett drama Babel fared well with $5.6 million. Probably the biggest losers were the Gladiator duo of Russell Crowe and director Ridley Scott, who could only get A Good Year to No. 10.

The biggie at the multiplex this weekend is Daniel Craig's outstanding debut as James Bond in Casino Royale. There's also family fare in the Penguin tale Happy Feet and broad comedy in Let's Go to Prision.
