I'd been meaning to post this for a while: Our classical music critic, Loren Tice, has posted a series of videos on YouTube demonstrating his piano-charting method that lets pure novices in on how to tickle the ivories. The first lesson is Oh When the Saints. It looks sort of like guitar tabs or chord charts that give a lot of us shortcuts to playing the six string. If you're interested in trying one of Loren's charts, you can download a pdf off of the YouTube page.
So, give it a look, and let me know when you book Carnegie Hall. To look for more of his videos, search for PianoCharter at YouTube.
OMG! I'm one of those people who has tried to learn to read music, but it's like a foreign language to me. I can totally play simple songs with this method! As soon as I finish Breaking Dawn (I'm down to the last 200 pages!) I may have to clear the piano off and give this a try.
